AI Startups Show Profitability at Accelerator Event

The 39th Demo Day of the Alchemist Accelerator, held recently, showcased the promising potential of artificial intelligence (AI) startups. A total of six startups from the Bay Area took the stage to pitch their innovative solutions, with four of these having graduated from the accelerator program. Plans are underway for the launch of an AI Accelerator early next year. New Jersey's Rising AI Hub

The NJ AI Hub, a collaborative effort spearheaded by Princeton University, Microsoft, and CoreWeave, is set to become a major player in the global AI landscape. The hub includes a co-working space and hosts community events aimed at fostering collaboration and innovation. The partnership with Plug and Play, a renowned tech innovation platform, strengthens New Jersey's commitment to AI advancement.

Governor Phil Murphy has been instrumental in fortifying New Jersey's AI leadership, with initiatives supported by Microsoft and CoreWeave. Liat Krawczyk has been appointed as the inaugural executive director, tasked with steering the hub towards pioneering breakthroughs that benefit humankind. The NJ Economic Development Authority, alongside other partners, plays a crucial role in this endeavor.

Focus on Diverse and Underrepresented Entrepreneurs

In addition to AI-focused initiatives, New Jersey is making strides to broaden opportunities for underrepresented groups in the tech industry. The NJ HAX Plasma Forge, expected to launch in Princeton, is a collaboration with SOSV and the NJ Economic Development Authority. This initiative will support ten tech startups in its 2025 cohort, emphasizing culturally grounded innovation across media, SaaS, fintech, and entertainment sectors.

Geekz Ventures, a non-profit virtual pre-accelerator, also plays a pivotal role in this landscape. It focuses on underestimated entrepreneurs, offering a community, curriculum, coaching, and funding. The program is industry-agnostic but has a strong emphasis on media and technology. Partners such as Village Capital and Black Innovation Alliance support its mission to scale diverse ventures.

Cohort Development and Mentorship Initiatives

The Geekz Ventures program is structured as a 10-week initiative that includes the development of a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and prepares participants for the current tech landscape. The 2025 cohort, selected from a competitive pool across the USA, benefits from mentorship by industry experts. Chantel Cohen led sessions on work-life integration, while Mike Lightman conducted workshops focused on storytelling in pitch decks.
